Several English football legends have rejected the wave of fierce criticism directed at Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egyptian national team and Liverpool star. Salah has been hounded by many voices calling for him to be benched and excluded from the Liverpool starting lineup, citing his declining performance.

The Egyptian star deleted his profile picture on Twitter's former "X" platform, which had a picture of him in a Liverpool shirt, and replaced it with a selfie with his two daughters. He also removed the word "Liverpool player" from his profile on his official Twitter account, instead adding "Liverpool resident" after coming on as a substitute for 15 minutes in Liverpool's match against Eintracht Frankfurt in the third round of the Champions League, which ended with the Reds winning 5-1.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was the first to defend Mohamed Salah, asserting that the Egyptian star was being subjected to exaggerated criticism that outweighed any temporary dip in his performance.

"It's not easy being the most important player in the team. When Salah doesn't score, Liverpool lose, and that increases the pressure on him," Henry said in statements reported by the British newspaper, the Daily Mirror.

But he remains the most important element in the team," he added, "He hit the post three times this week and came close more than once. Mohamed Salah hasn't declined physically or mentally, he's just going through a bad period."

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand also mocked those calling for Mohamed Salah to be excluded from Liverpool's starting lineup for upcoming matches, following the Reds' disastrous results in recent weeks of the Premier League.

Ferdinand said in statements reported by the SportsKeeda website regarding the situation: "I don't understand how anyone can demand that Mohamed Salah not be included in the starting lineup. He's one of the three best players in Liverpool's history, and one of the greatest to have played in the Premier League. He's going through a difficult period, and that's normal for any great player."

Former Liverpool star Peter Crouch has confirmed that Mohamed Salah has the potential to shine again, explaining that he is not concerned about the player's recent decline in performance.

Peter Crouch told the Liverpool Echo newspaper, "Mohamed Salah's performance has declined significantly since Alexander-Arnold's departure to Real Madrid. Salah and Arnold formed a fiery duo on the right flank."
