Real Madrid CF gave club legends Dani Carvajal and David Alaba a memorable farewell after defeating Athletic Club 4-2 at the Santiago Bernabéu in the final round of the La Liga season.
The emotional night marked the final appearance for both defenders in a Real Madrid shirt following the end of their contracts with the club.
Carvajal, one of the most successful academy graduates in Madrid history, started the match and even provided the assist for the opening goal scored by Gonzalo García in the 12th minute.
Alaba also received a warm farewell from supporters after an injury-hit final period with the club, having won multiple trophies during his time in Madrid, including two UEFA Champions League titles.
Goals from Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé and Brahim Díaz secured the victory for Madrid, but the night’s biggest moments came after the final whistle as fans paid tribute to Carvajal and Alaba for their contributions to the club.
The match also marked the farewell of coach Álvaro Arbeloa from the Real Madrid bench.
