El Sisi kicks off Foreign Tour

CAIRO, Apr 7 (SEE)- President Abd Fattah El-Sisi will begin a foreign tour on Sunday, which will include visits to Guinea, America, Cote d'Ivoire and Senegal, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi reported.

Radi, explained that the president's foreign tour to West Africa comes within  Egypt's keenness framework to intensify communication and coordination with its African brothers and to further strengthen its relations with the continent countries in various fields.

Particularly, through the cooperation strengthening at the economic, trade and investment levels, as well as the advanced priority accorded to African issues in Egyptian foreign policy, in light of the current Egyptian presidency of African Union.

During the African tour the President will hold an intensive series of talks with the leaders of Guinea, Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal to discuss mechanisms to enhance bilateral cooperation with Egypt and how to deal with the continent's concerns. In addition to discuss the latest developments in regional issues and means of cooperation to crystallize the efforts of the Egyptian Presidency of the African Union, which aims mainly at advancing the process of development and promoting economic integration in the continent.

The president visit to Washington comes with invitation of US President Donald Trump, as part of a series of meetings between the two leaders aimed to strengthen the mutual relations between Egypt and the United States in all fields, in order to achieve the strategic interests of the two countries.

Egyptian presidency of African Union

According to a White House statement issued during the last week of March, US President Donald Trump will meet El-Sisi in the Oval Office on 9 April for talks that will cover “developments and shared priorities in the region.

President El-Sisi is also expected to attend a ceremony at the US Congress to honour late president Anwar El-Sadat on the 40th anniversary of the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty which Sadat signed with the then Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin at the White House on 26 March 1979.
