El-Gouna centre-back and former Al Ahly defender Mohamed Naguib has been confirmed to test positive for COVID-19.
Naguib had joined El-Gouna on a free transfer in the summer of 2019, signing a two-year contract for ‘The Gounies’.
The 37-year-old spent a total of eight years at Al Ahly, making 176 appearances for the record champions.
He has started in both of his team's 1-1 draws against Tala’a El-Gaish and Al Masry in their opening Egyptian Premier League games this season.
However, he is now set to miss up to two weeks of action, including games against Aswan and Misr El-Makkasa.
Naguib has also become the second player at the team to test positive for COVID-19 after first-choice goalkeeper Ahmed Adel announced he contracted the virus.
El-Gouna are currently ninth in the Egyptian Premier League table after picking up two points from their opening games.
