Dr. Mostafa el Feki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina said on Tuesday said that he suggested with the beginning of the Tiran and Sanafir crisis, and in a public meeting before a large group of Egyptians and Saudis, that the two countries lift the embarrassment of their governments before the two peoples by resorting to the international judiciary.

El Feki added that he requested that this be done through the International Court of Justice instead of the push and pull that took several months at the time.

The director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina explained that he demanded that in order to preserve the historical rights of Egypt and Saudi Arabia in these two islands, especially since Egypt had guarded and preserved them in front of Israeli ambitions for several decades.

He pointed out that it was not in his mind at that time to antagonize one party over another, and that his writings in this context were published at the time.
