The company in charge of the Eiffel Tower, one of the most important and most visited tourist attractions in the French capital, Paris, evacuated the tower today after a fire alarm was triggered due to a technical problem following an electrical short circuit in one of the elevators.
The company stated - in a statement today - that the problem occurred between the second floor and the upper part of the tourist attraction, which led to the fire alarm being triggered. In accordance with the security procedures in place, the authorities evacuated the Eiffel Tower.
The company confirmed that "no visitor was in danger", and the firefighters left the place and in consultation with the technical authorities, an investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the incident. The authorities will reopen the Eiffel Tower to visitors today, but partially up to the second floor of the tourist attraction.
