On Saturday, Egypt's Tourism and Antiquities Minister Ahmed Issa held a meeting with the General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) Atef Moftah to follow up on the progress taking place there.
During his inspection tour to GEM, Issa stressed the necessity of sticking to the scheduled date to open the iconic venue on time.
In preparation for its inauguration, Issa reviewed progress pertinent to the GEM project, implementation rates, construction second phases, and the display techniques at the museum's various halls, especially the graphics and multimedia as well as the plan to show the various artifacts in the main halls.
GEM, a Giza landmark, is set to open to the public this year, following the completion of its yard.
The massive Museum was built outside of Cairo city center, near the Pyramids of Giza.
