In the same context, Egypt’s foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafiz announced that Shoukry and Lebanese officials will also discuss "The ways to support the efforts to stop the collapse and rebuild Beirut as soon as the new government is formed in Lebanon".

"The aim of the visit is to offer condolences and encouragement to the Lebanese and those affected by the massive Beirut Port explosion in August 2020 and to offer support to leaders in Lebanon", The ministry spokesman said.

According to Hafiz, the meeting will focus on regional security issues and deepening and strengthening ties.
