On Monday, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his American counterpart Antony Blinken to discuss bilateral relations, the resumption of negotiations towards the latest issues between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia over the disputed Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

“During their meeting today, Shoukry suggested that it is time for Egypt to reinvigorate ties with the U.S and called for top leaders from both countries to deliberate on this,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported Monday.

Shoukry’s statement came after he met privately with Blinken, Biden's chief foreign affairs adviser on the sidelines of the Summit of Anti-ISIS in Roma, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It's worth mentioning that Ethiopia’s rejection of several proposals by Egypt and Sudan on the negotiation with effective compromise, which includes an international quartet mediation, has led to the collapse of the recent talks.
