Head of the Ready-Made Garments Export Council Fadel Marzouk estimated that Egyptian ready-made garment exports by the end of 2024 exceed $2.820 billion, an increase of 18% compared to 2023.
Marzouk told Al Arabiya Business that the value of Egyptian ready-made garment exports ranged between $300 and $310 million in December at the very least.
The head of the Export Council indicated that the council aims to raise Egyptian ready-made garment exports to $3.5 billion by the end of 2025, an increase of more than 20%.
"We look forward to raising the sector's exports by 23% and 25%, respectively during 2026 and 2027," according to Marzouk, who explained that the expected increase in exports is driven by the significant increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) in Egypt in the ready-made garment sector, especially from Turkey, Vietnam and China.
"Turkish factories operating in Egypt are currently expanding their operations in the local market, while new Turkish companies have begun to enter the market for the first time," according to Marzouk.
Egypt's ready-made garment exports amounted to $2.4 billion in 2023, a value that represented about 7% of Egypt's total non-petroleum exports during the past year, according to data from the Egyptian Export and Import Control Authority.
Egypt's non-oil exports reached $35.6 billion in 2023, while the state aims to increase export proceeds to $145 billion by 2030, according to previous statements by Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan Al-Khatib.
