The seventh train departed from Cairo station this morning heading towards the High Dam Port in Aswan, as part of Egypt's railway initiative to facilitate the voluntary return of Sudanese nationals residing in Egypt.
This initiative follows the directives of Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, to provide comprehensive support for Sudanese citizens returning to their homeland.
The train left Cairo at 11:00 AM, carrying hundreds of Sudanese families, and is expected to arrive at the High Dam Port by 11:30 PM, where passengers will continue their journey to Sudan. The same train will return from Aswan to Cairo tomorrow, Monday, at 8:20 PM, to serve other passengers.
The Egyptian National Railways Authority has increased the number of trips to meet the growing demand from Sudanese citizens wishing to return home. As part of this initiative, which reflects deep solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, the trains have been equipped with additional carriages to carry passengers' belongings and provide assistance to the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
To accommodate the increasing number of returnees, the railway authority has ensured the availability of extra carriages for luggage and special assistance services. Passengers have expressed their gratitude to Egypt for the care and support provided during their stay, with many describing Egypt as a second home in times of hardship.
As the seventh train departs, the number of Sudanese passengers transported under this initiative has reached 6,668, reflecting Egypt's commitment to ensuring the safe and dignified return of its Sudanese brothers and sisters.
