Egypt’s PM Reorganizes Supreme Council of Antiquities

Egypt’s Prime Minister issued resolution No. 2462 of 2022 regarding the reorganization of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, after the approval of the Council of Ministers in its 198th session on June 22, 2022.

The resolution stipulated that the council would handle all the affairs of Egyptian antiquities from various ages, whether they were in archaeological sites, stores, museums, or any activity related to Egyptian antiquities.

The resolution also stipulated the formation of the board of directors headed by the minister concerned with antiquities and the membership of each of the secretary-general of the council, and a number of executive heads of the bodies affiliated with the ministry.

The board of directors also includes 4 experts in the fields of archaeology, culture, marketing, management, tourism, law, and others, whose appointments were issued by a decision of the prime minister.

The issuance of the aforementioned prime minister’s resolution comes with the measures taken by the ministry toward modernizing the organizational structures of the modernizing structures of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and its affiliated bodies in coordination with the Central Agency for Organization and administration.

It is worth mentioning that the Supreme Council of Antiquities was established by Presidential Decree no. 82 of 1994, and this decree contained in some of its articles a detailed of the component of the council, its sectors, presidencies, and objectives.
