The Speaker of Egypt’s House of Representatives, Hesham Badawy, on Wednesday received a delegation of European Union ambassadors to Egypt at the parliament headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, in a meeting that highlighted the depth and momentum of Egypt–EU relations.

At the outset of the meeting, Badawy reaffirmed Egypt’s firm commitment to the principles of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union. He praised the positive momentum witnessed in Egyptian–European relations and expressed Egypt’s aspiration to continue close consultations, strengthen constructive dialogue, and exchange views on issues of mutual concern, particularly in light of intertwined interests and growing shared challenges.

Badawy underlined the importance of sustained parliamentary and political engagement as a key pillar supporting the broader strategic partnership between Egypt and the EU, noting that dialogue and coordination have become increasingly vital amid complex regional and international developments.

He also commended the participation of the Egyptian President and EU leaders in the Egypt–EU Summit held in Brussels last October, describing it as a landmark event. Badawy noted that the summit was the first of its kind to be held by the European Union with a partner from the Southern Mediterranean or the Middle East, reflecting the priority both sides attach to strengthening their strategic partnership.

The speaker stressed that the summit was convened at a particularly sensitive and challenging time, both regionally and internationally, underscoring the shared commitment of Egypt and the EU to deepen cooperation. He said the partnership aims not only to enhance political consultation and coordination on common political, security, and economic challenges across the Mediterranean, but also to explore new horizons for expanding economic and developmental cooperation between Egypt and EU member states.
