Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, through the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, is sponsoring the Egyptian Capital Cup football tournament. This initiative, realized in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Football Association, underscores Egypt's strategic approach to showcase its capability to host large-scale international events.

The tournament, which is being organized by the Sports United Company, began its matches featuring international teams, including Egypt's own, at the state-of-the-art Egypt Stadium located in the Egypt International Olympic City within the New Administrative Capital.

Running from March 22 to 26, the Egypt Cup welcomes teams from Egypt, Tunisia, New Zealand, and Croatia, aligning with the global football calendar's international break. This participation highlights Egypt's position on the international sports stage and its readiness to host significant global events.

Amr El-Qadi, the CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, emphasized the tournament's role in showcasing Egypt's ability to host grand sporting events. The board's support for the Egypt Cup is aimed at leveraging the event to enhance Egypt's image as a prime tourist destination. Efforts include the strategic placement of Egypt's tourism branding across match venues and digital platforms, ensuring visibility among an international audience.

Further, El-Qadi pointed out that the board's strategy extends to sponsoring events that not only draw significant crowds but also receive extensive media coverage, such as football tournaments that resonate widely across the world. This initiative is part of Egypt's broader efforts to promote the country's rich cultural heritage and modern attractions to a global audience, merging the passion for sport with the allure of tourism.
