Egypt’s Leading News Platforms Join SDG Media Compact

A number of editor-in-chiefs of leading Egyptian news platforms have signed up today at SDG Media Compact, an initiative marking a new drive to advance awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

According to UN website, the Compact seeks to inspire media and entertainment companies around the world to leverage their resources and creative talent to advance the Goals. The founding members of the SDG Media Compact already comprise an audience in billions, spanning over 80 countries on 4 continents and many more companies are expected to join.

See’s Editor-in- Chief Ms. Safaa Nawar attended along with Managing Editor Mr. Mohamed Wadie, as well as other prominent journalists including Mr. Karam Gabr, chairman of the National Press Supreme Council and Mr. Khaled Mery, editor-in-chief of Al-Akhbar daily newspaper.

The SDG Media Compact was designed to be inclusive and aims to embrace media companies from all regions and all platforms.

The participating organizations will have the opportunity to create content partnerships with the United Nations; these organizations will increase their efforts to source and share high-value media content and newsworthy opportunities relating to the SDGs. Regular monitoring and review meetings will be held and engagement. will be enhanced.
