Egypt's Irrigation Minister, Sudanese Counterpart Inspect Blue Nile Flow Measurments

Hani Swelim, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation inspected the Khartoum Measuring Station on the Blue Nile, accompanied by Daw Al-Bayt Abdel Rahman, Sudanese Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Ambassador Hany Salah, Egyptian Ambassador to Khartoum, and members of the executive bodies of the Nile Water Authority.

Swailem listened to a full explanation of the characteristics of the station and the mechanisms of measurement and data checking from the heads of the executive authority.

The Minister of Irrigation witnessed the process of measuring the behavior that was carried out by engineers in the executive bodies of the Nile Water Authority using the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), which was supplied by the Joint Permanent Technical Authority for Nile Water, within the framework of the authority’s strategy and ambitious plan to develop measurement stations and supply them with the latest technological means.

Swailem praised the executive bodies of the Ministries of Irrigation in Sudan and Egypt for possesing a professional network of stations for measuring levels and dispositions spread over the Nile River, equipped with the latest measuring devices.

He pointed out that the works of measurement and permanent follow-up of the levels of the Nile River help in managing the river in an optimal manner.
