Egypt’s Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel arrived Tuesday in Washington in an official visit.

It is scheduled that, he will hold talks with a number of US intelligence officials as well as members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Libya, Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), and Gaza.

It is worth mentioning that, Egypt played a key role in achieving a ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian factions and Israel to end 11 days of fighting in which more than 250 people were killed, most of them in Gaza.

Biden administration decided to reduce the US military presence in the Middle East, and has already begun reducing the number of troops, aircraft, and anti-missile systems, the Wall Street Journal reported.

This comes as a part of the US's broader plan to reorganize its military presence globally to focus on the most pressing threats posed by both China and Russia.
