He urged African countries to work to accelerate the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement to provide an additional opportunity to enhance cooperation with BRICS.
He stated this during his meeting with the Speaker of the South African National Assembly, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, on the sidelines of his participation in the ninth BRICS Parliamentary Forum.
Gebali stressed the strength of Egyptian-South African relations, stressing the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the two countries to achieve stability and development in Africa.
The speaker welcomed Egypt's accession to BRICS, stressing its aspiration to actively participate in various BRICS initiatives and mechanisms.
He stressed the importance of strengthening communication channels between the BRICS parliaments to achieve the group’s goals in various fields, most notably those related to trade and the economy.
On her part, the Speaker of the South African Parliament praised Egypt's first participation in the BRICS Parliamentary Forum, stressing the historical relations between Egypt and South Africa, and adding that Egypt's accession to BRICS a strong addition to the group and African countries.
