Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty commended the Egyptian community in the United States for their national role and positive contributions, describing them as a “vital bridge of communication between the Egyptian and American peoples.”

The minister made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Egyptian community in New York on Friday, held on the sidelines of his participation in the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The gathering came as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain direct communication with Egyptians abroad.

Abdelatty warmly welcomed attendees and expressed appreciation for the community’s active engagement in strengthening the close ties between Egypt and the United States, as well as in promoting a positive image of Egypt within American society.

He also highlighted the constructive participation of Egyptian-American business leaders in the Egypt–U.S. Economic Forum, held in Cairo last May in coordination with the American Chamber of Commerce. The minister described the forum as a model of productive interaction between the Egyptian state and its diaspora communities, helping expand avenues for economic, commercial, and investment cooperation.

Addressing the state’s ongoing efforts to support citizens abroad, Abdelatty outlined the government’s initiatives to improve consular services through digital transformation, streamline procedures, and launch new programs in partnership with relevant institutions to better meet the needs of Egyptians overseas.

He also pointed to the success of the sixth edition of the “Egyptians Abroad Conference,” held in Cairo on August 3–4, 2025, as a platform for direct dialogue between state institutions and expatriate communities. The conference, he said, produced “practical and forward-looking recommendations that reflect a deep partnership between the state and its citizens abroad.”

In his concluding remarks, Abdelatty stressed the importance of complying with U.S. residency and labor laws, warning that violations could lead to legal consequences such as fines, revocation of residency, deportation, or travel bans. “Respecting the law is the real guarantee for protecting our citizens abroad and preserving their legal status,” he emphasized.
