Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has asserted Egypt's strong rejection of any plan or measure that would lead to the displacement of the Palestinians outside the Gaza Strip that would liquidate the Palestinian cause and threaten the national security of neighboring countries, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Thursday.
This came during Shoukry's meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers meeting in Rio de Janeiro.
The meeting also discussed the developments of the situation in the Gaza Strip.
The Spokesman added that Shoukry necessitated reaching a ceasefire as the only guarantee to halt the bloodshed and decrease the escalations in Gaza.
The meeting also highlighted Egypt's close following up on the developments of the Israeli military operations in Gaza
Shoukry warned of major repercussions of any wide-range attack on Rafah and necessitated practicing pressure on Israel to fully implement UNSC Resolution no 2720 to allow humanitarian aid supplies to the enclave.
Shoukry asserted the importance of UNRWA's role in receiving and distributing humanitarian aid supplies in Gaza as it is the only body capable of working in light of the current security and humanitarian circumstances in the enclave.
Both ministers also tackled the process of the current diplomatic efforts to reach a prisoner swap agreement that allows a several-week truce.
