Egypt's food industries have achieved remarkable success, reaching a total export value of $4.03 billion in the first half of 2025.
The growth is attributed to increasing demand for Egyptian food products, especially in key markets such as the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
Egyptian food exports, which include processed foods, dairy products, and fresh produce, are gaining recognition for their quality, competitive pricing, and diverse offerings.
The Egyptian Exporters' Association attributes the rise in exports to efforts by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to expand Egypt’s market share globally. The demand for Egyptian products in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and European nations such as Germany and Italy has been particularly strong.
Key products:
Processed Foods: Such as snacks, canned goods, and ready-to-eat meals.
Dairy Products: Including milk, cheese, and yogurt.
Fruits and Vegetables: Especially citrus fruits like oranges and fresh vegetables.
Grains and Cereals: A significant increase in wheat and rice exports.
The Egyptian government has been actively supporting the sector through export incentives and improved quality control measures, helping to increase both production and exports. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to diversify Egypt’s export base and reduce reliance on oil exports.
Looking ahead, industry experts forecast that the food sector will continue to grow, with the export target for 2025 potentially exceeding $8 billion, strengthening Egypt’s position as a leading food exporter in the region and driving future economic growth.
