Egypt’s food exports have continued their upward momentum in 2025, surging by 9.4% during the first nine months of the year to reach $5.1 billion, compared with $4.7 billion in the same period last year, according to the Export Council for Food Industries (ECFI).

The council highlighted that export performance throughout the year has been marked by consistent growth and balanced monthly distribution, reflecting resilience in the sector despite global economic fluctuations.

The year began on a strong note, with January exports rising 10% to $529 million, up from $479 million in January 2024. Although February and March saw slight dips of around 2% each, the sector rebounded significantly in the second quarter.

In April, exports jumped 18% to $630 million, while May followed with a 15% increase to $632 million. By June, the sector maintained stability at $506 million, marking a 6% annual rise.

The momentum carried into the third quarter, with July exports reaching $623 million—a 10% increase from a year earlier. August posted one of the year’s highest growth rates at 17%, while September closed the period with a 14% increase, totaling $527 million.

Geographically, Arab countries remained Egypt’s largest export destination, accounting for 48% of total food exports valued at $2.49 billion, a 2% year-on-year increase. The European Union ranked second, importing $1.05 billion worth of Egyptian food products, representing 20% of total exports and 9% growth.

Meanwhile, exports to non-Arab African markets reached $386 million, up 2% from last year, while U.S. demand surged 38% to $340 million, highlighting growing interest in Egyptian processed food products. Shipments to other global markets also rose sharply, climbing 33% to $847 million.
