Egypt’s Foreign Minister held a phone call Friday with his Bahraini counterpart to discuss the rapidly escalating security situation in the region, reaffirming Cairo’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain following recent attacks affecting several Gulf and Arab states.
Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, spoke with Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, as part of ongoing consultations between Arab leaders to assess the growing military escalation across the Middle East.
According to Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the call focused on the fast-moving regional developments and the implications of recent attacks targeting Bahrain and a number of Gulf and Arab countries.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, said Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with Bahrain and its Gulf partners in confronting the repercussions of the recent assaults.
The Egyptian minister emphasized that Gulf and Arab national security are inseparable from Egypt’s own national security, describing regional stability as a core pillar of Cairo’s strategic priorities.
Abdelatty also reiterated Egypt’s strong condemnation of the attacks and firmly rejected any justification or pretext for violating the sovereignty of neighboring states or threatening the safety and prosperity of their populations.
During the call, Egypt’s top diplomat warned of the potentially severe consequences of continued military escalation in the region.
He stressed the urgent need for an immediate halt to all military operations to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control and triggering wider instability.
“Escalation at this stage carries serious risks for regional security,” the statement quoted Abdelatty as saying, adding that preventing further deterioration remains a top priority for Arab diplomacy.
The conversation reflects a broader pattern of intensified diplomatic coordination among Arab governments as tensions mount across the Middle East.
Egypt has been actively engaging with Gulf and regional partners in recent days, aiming to support collective efforts to contain the crisis and safeguard regional stability.
Diplomats say continued communication between regional capitals will be critical in the coming days as leaders seek to prevent the current security situation from evolving into a wider regional conflict.
