On Monday, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry delivered a message from Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Shoukry, currently on a three-day visit to Moscow, handed the message to his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, during a session of talks earlier today.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said on Twitter that Shourky met at the start of his visit to Moscow with Lavrov to hand him Sisi's message to Putin.

Hafez said Shoukry asserted during the meeting the historic ties binding the two countries and the continued coordination between them in the various spheres.

During the meeting, Shoukry also lauded efforts to activate spheres of bilateral cooperation that serve the interests of the two sides and set an example of fruitful cooperation, citing the Dabaa nuclear plant, the industrial zone and efforts to increase tourism traffic.

The Egyptian foreign minister said he hopes trade exchange, which was adversely affected by the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic, would return to previous levels.
