The Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry condemned the attempts made to suspend the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

According to a statement issued by the foreign ministry, Shoukry expressed Egypt's strong disapproval of such attempts, as they would harm the basic rights of the Palestinian people.

Additionally, he reviewed Egypt's efforts since the outbreak of the crisis to ensure the sustainable flow of urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. He stressed that Egypt would continue its efforts to reach a ceasefire.

Shoukry's remarks came during his speech before the high-level segment (HLS) of the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in the Swiss city of Geneva from 26-28 February.
