Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty outlined Cairo’s position on key Middle East crises during an interview with CBS News in Washington, as part of his ongoing visit to the United States.

During the interview, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s approach to escalating regional tensions, including developments related to Iran, ongoing de-escalation efforts, and the broader security landscape across the Middle East.

He also addressed the Palestinian issue, reaffirming Egypt’s consistent stance on the need for a comprehensive political solution, while highlighting the urgency of stabilizing conditions on the ground.

The minister further discussed developments in the Red Sea, stressing the importance of safeguarding international navigation routes amid rising security concerns. He emphasized that ensuring freedom of navigation remains a top priority, given its direct impact on global trade and energy flows.

Abdelatty underscored the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to contain tensions and support stability, noting that diplomacy remains the most effective path forward in addressing complex and overlapping crises.
