Egyptian squash stars Fayrouz Abouelkheir, Farida Mohamed, and Nada Abbas advanced to the semifinals of the Carol Weymuller Women’s Squash Championship in New York.
Fayrouz Abouelkheir defeated Melissa Alves 3-0, with game scores of 11-4, 11-5, and 11-8.
Farida Mohamed defeated Rachel Arnold 3-2, with game scores of 5-11, 12-10, 15-17, 11-6, and 11-8.
Nada Abbas defeated Hollie Naughton 3-0, with game scores of 11-3, 11-3, and 11-9.
Unfortunately, Salma Hany lost to England’s Sarah-Jane Perry 3-1, with game scores of 5-11, 16-14, 11-7, and 11-3.
Earlier, Egyptian duo Ali Farag, the world’s top-ranked men’s player, and Hania El Hammamy, the world’s third-ranked women’s player, won the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions in New York.
The tournament is classified as a Platinum event, the second-highest tier in squash championships.
