The rising Egyptian squash star Amina Orfi has achieved a new milestone by winning the New Zealand Open Squash Championship.
Held between March 4 and 9, the tournament, classified as a Silver event, featured a total prize pool of $75,000 for both the men's and women's competitions.
Orfi secured victory in the final by defeating Japan’s Satomi Watanabe with a clean sweep of 3-0 in a match that lasted 38 minutes.
The game scores were: 11-5, 11-8, 11-5.
Following her triumph, Orfi expressed her disbelief, saying: "Honestly, I still can’t believe it. Before the tournament, even when I was in Egypt, I didn’t think about winning the title. But I tried to put it out of my mind. It was a tough match that could have gone either way, so I just focused throughout."
