Egypt’s Ambassador to The Hague, Emad Hanna, has officially received a collection of rare artifacts dating back to ancient Egyptian civilization from the Dutch National Museum, after it was confirmed that the pieces had left Egypt illegally.
During the handover ceremony, Ambassador Hanna expressed his deep appreciation to the Dutch side for its fruitful cooperation in returning these invaluable antiquities. He stressed that this important step reflects a shared commitment to safeguarding cultural and human heritage and supports global efforts to combat the trafficking of antiquities.
Hanna further underlined that the repatriation of these artifacts comes within the framework of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to recover smuggled antiquities, in accordance with Antiquities Protection Law No. 117 of 1983 and its amendments, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
