In a significant boost to Egypt’s agricultural sector, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, announced that Egyptian agricultural exports have reached approximately 7 million tons to date.

This marks an increase of over 650,000 tons compared to the same period last year, according to an official report from the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine.

The report, compiled by Mohamed Al-Mansi, Head of the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine, highlighted that Egyptian citrus fruits (especially oranges) lead the exports, with quantities exceeding 1.9 million tons. Fresh potatoes followed closely with over 1.3 million tons.

The fresh onion came in third place with over 250,000 tons, followed by beans (both fresh and dried) at 222,000 tons, and grapes ranking fifth with more than 180,000 tons.

The report also highlighted other agricultural exports that have seen significant growth this season, including potatoes, mangoes, fresh tomatoes, garlic, pomegranates, strawberries, and guavas.

Minister Farouk emphasized that this strong performance reflects the ongoing progress in Egypt’s agricultural sector and its growing competitiveness in global markets. He also stressed the government's commitment to developing the sector and opening new markets for Egyptian products, all while adhering to the highest standards of quality.

"This achievement has been made possible due to the cooperation between farmers, producers, exporters, and regulatory bodies, particularly the agricultural quarantine and accredited reference laboratories," Farouk added. "The Ministry will continue to support production and export efforts, further boosting the national economy and creating new job opportunities."

Al-Mansi, on his part, explained that the increase in exports is largely due to the adoption of the latest international standards for inspection and monitoring. This includes the implementation of agricultural coding systems, as well as efforts to expand into new markets for Egyptian products. These initiatives have helped maintain Egypt's global reputation and ensured smoother export operations.
