On Thursday, Foreign Minister Shoukry affirmed Egypt's commitment and readiness to support the recent efforts attempting to settle the situation in Lebanon in accordance with the demands of the people of Lebanon.

Shoukry also stated that Egypt sees itself and other global and Arab states as key allies in that effort.

In a statement, Foreign Minister said: "Currently, we are pursuing together with many regional and global  allies, our efforts to reach a significant political settlement in this afflicted country."

It's worth mentioning that American Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with Shoukry on Thursday in New York City on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The Egyptian top diplomat also held a meeting with the EU foreign affairs high representative and Security Policy Josep Borrell Fontelles, where they discussed ways to boost Egyptian European bilateral relations.

Shoukry's remarks about Lebanon were made during these afternoon's meetings, according to domestic media.
