Egypt's ACA Plays Great Role in Fighting Corruption

The Administrative Control Authority (ACA) had raised several corruption-related cases over the past period.

The ACA arrested a man posing as a representative of a sovereign body who asked the Egyptian Survey Authority's office in Damietta governorate to conduct survey works on a land with an area of 76 feddans in Ras El-Bar shore worth EGP5.4 billion.

The arrested man, holding a preparatory certificate, possessed false ID cards with several identities like an adviser at the Arab International Organization for Dispute Resolution, a consultant of counterfeiting crimes, and other diplomatic positions.

The authority also caught two people working at electricity distribution companies in Cairo over charges of manipulating the procedures of connecting electric power to seven properties, a matter which made the companies lose EGP1.35 million.

An expert at the technical experts' office in North Cairo area was arrested over charges of taking bribes worth EGP 200,000 from a lawyer in exchange for violating his job duties by preparing a false technical report in favor of the lawyer's client.

The ACA arrested a director-general at the agriculture directorate in Suez Governorate who took bribes from an agricultural supervisor on new lands in exchange for manipulating inspection reports.

An engineer at Housing and Utilities Directorate, Cairo was caught over charges of taking bribes from a pharmacist to issue a paper which claims that there is no objection to issuing a license to the pharmacy to practice its profession.

The authority further arrested a surveyor working at Survey Directorate in Sohag Governorate over charges of taking bribes in exchange for conducting survey works on land owned by a person.

The public prosecution decided to put the arrested persons in custody for four days pending investigation.
