Egyptian international referee Shahenda El-Maghrabi has added another milestone to her distinguished officiating career, after being selected by FIFA as a candidate for the Best Referee award worldwide.
This prestigious nomination underscores the exceptional standing of “Egypt’s ambassador of refereeing” and places her among the top Arab and African female referees vying for this global honor.
El-Maghrabi’s nomination marks an important step in promoting the presence of Egyptian, Arab, and African women in international sports arenas. It also represents a prime opportunity to rally support and votes for her candidacy.
Shahenda El-Maghrabi is one of the most prominent international female referees, with a track record of officiating at major global tournaments. Recently, she was selected to referee at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and made history as the first Egyptian woman to officiate a match in the men’s Egyptian Premier League as the main referee.
