Egyptian popular folk singer Reda El Bahrawy has officially announced his retirement from singing, revealing that the decision comes in fulfillment of a final wish made by his late mother before her passing.

El Bahrawy said that his mother advised him while she was on her deathbed to step away from folk singing and pursue a different path in life away from the music industry. He confirmed that he has decided to fully honor her wish and retire permanently from singing.

“She was my entire life,” El Bahrawy said, adding that her death marked a turning point in his life. “My life stopped after my mother passed away. I am still deeply attached to her, even after her death. I pray that God forgives her and grants her mercy.”

The singer explained that his mother also urged him to devote himself to charitable work and to continue doing good throughout his life. He stressed that he is committed to carrying out her will without hesitation until he reunites with her one day.

El Bahrawy emphasized that he never left his mother’s side during her illness, saying he remained with her constantly and cared for her until her final moments. In honoring her memory, he confirmed that his decision to leave singing is final and irreversible.
