TV BRICS has aired a video report highlighting a series of cultural events and activities organized by the Egyptian Embassy in Moscow to introduce Egyptian culture to Russian audiences.
Among the featured events was a vibrant musical performance dedicated entirely to traditional Egyptian percussion, most notably the iconic “Al Tabla,” offering attendees an authentic experience of Egypt’s rhythmic heritage.
Egypt’s Ambassador to Russia, Hamdy Shaaban, told TV BRICS that the musical evening is part of a broader cultural initiative launched by the embassy in cooperation with several Russian cultural institutions.
He emphasized that these efforts reflect the shared commitment of Egypt and Russia to strengthening mutual cultural cooperation.
For his part, Ilya Gafershin, Deputy Director of the Russian State Children’s Library for Information and Collections, spoke about Russian children’s growing interest in ancient Egyptian civilization, the ancient Egyptian language, and Arabic.
He noted that modern and engaging educational tools have made learning more attractive to young audiences, whose natural curiosity drives cultural development. This enthusiasm, he added, mirrors the depth of Egyptian-Russian relations across multiple sectors.
The report also highlighted the strength of tourism ties between the two countries. Approximately two million Russian citizens visited Egypt last year, with nearly half traveling alongside their children and families.
Meanwhile, Mohamed El-Sergany, Egypt’s Cultural Counselor in Russia, stated that various initiatives link tourism with culture. Several programs targeting children have been launched in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministries of Tourism, Culture, and Education.
One notable initiative is a camp program that allows Russian schoolchildren to spend several days in Egypt, traveling between Cairo and the southern cities of Aswan and Luxor, where they can explore the country’s rich historical and cultural landmarks firsthand.
