Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Doha to express full solidarity with Qatar following the recent Israeli attack targeting its sovereignty.
During their meeting on Sunday, the two ministers jointly condemned Israel’s actions and stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, rejecting policies of blockade, starvation, and forced displacement. They underscored the necessity of ensuring the full delivery of humanitarian aid and reaffirmed their support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
The talks also covered the trajectory of bilateral relations between Egypt and Turkey, which both sides described as enjoying growing positive momentum in recent months. Abdelatty and Fidan emphasized their shared determination to build on recent progress by strengthening cooperation in economic, trade, and investment sectors, as well as developing political consultation mechanisms that reinforce the partnership between Cairo and Ankara.
Both ministers further highlighted the importance of activating institutional frameworks for Egyptian–Turkish cooperation in order to expand the scope of their strategic partnership.
