Sputnik: Egyptian airline company EgyptAir intends to put on 19 charter flights to Russian cities which will host World Cup matches involving Egypt, EgyptAir CEO Safwat Musallam announced.
"There will be 19 additional flights for the transportation of three thousand fans wanting to support the Egyptian national team at the World Cup. On June 10 we will put into service flights to Russia and on June 28 flights back to Egypt,” Musallam said, as quoted in an EgyptAir official statement.
According to Musallam, the majority of flights will head to Grozny, where the team will reside, Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg and Moscow.
Around 20 thousand fans are expected to come to Russia from Egypt.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities.
Egypt have been drawn in Group A and will play Uruguay in Yekaterinburg on June 15, the hosts Russia in St. Petersburg on June 19 and Saudi Arabia in Volgograd on June 25.
