Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, received the award for Egypt's Best Heritage Destination in the Outstanding Destination category during the World Tourism Awards ceremony held as part of the World Tourism Forum's annual meeting currently being held in Brussels, Belgium.
Egypt was selected for this award for its efforts to preserve its historical and cultural heritage, and its efforts to promote and share it with travelers.
The World Tourism Awards, presented by the World Tourism Forum, honor pioneering destinations, companies, innovations, and individuals who contribute to redefining travel through sustainability, creativity, and impact. The awards ceremony highlights the top 100 players shaping the future of tourism worldwide.
In his speech, the Minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the World Tourism Forum for this award, highlighting Egypt's achievements since the beginning of this year, including a 21% increase in tourist arrivals compared to last year.
