Egypt, WHO, EU Discuss Enhancing Cooperation in Health Sector

Egypt's Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met on Thursday with a delegation of the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Union (EU), and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to discuss enhancing cooperation in the health sector in Egypt.

During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the importance of cooperation with WHO, EU, and EIB to put indexes to assess the satisfaction of the citizens with the health services offered.

In the same connection, the minister discussed future cooperation to support motherhood and childhood services in addition to collaboration to expand work in the services presented as part of the public health initiatives, including the initiatives that target early detection of contagious diseases and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), breast cancer and genetic diseases in newborns.

According to a statement, the meeting tackled expanding cooperation horizons between the Health Ministry and international institutions to support the efforts exerted to develop and improve the quality of the health services presented to the citizens.

Their discussion took up cooperation opportunities to implement an initiative that supports primary care services at health units and centers being implemented, the statement said.

The meeting also highlighted the best ways to provide healthcare for the elderly and those who cannot move via home visits to ease their burdens.
