Egypt, WHO Discuss Joint Cooperation

Egypt's Assistant Minister of Health and Population, President of the General Authority for Healthcare (GAH) and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project Ahmed El-Sobky met with the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Egypt, Naima El-Qaseer.

During the meeting, El-Sobky and El-Qaseer reviewed the final draft of the study of national health accounts in Egypt, before the official announcement, in which the authority participates in cooperation with the WHO, to evaluate the health spending from different entities to know the value of spending on diseases for each entity, and for each disease.

They also discussed the best ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides in documenting the authority’s achievements in various fields of healthcare and providing distinguished service, and highlighting its most important achievements, to constitute a pioneering Egyptian experience in the development of health care.

El-Sobky highlighted the importance of national health accounts, as an effective and comprehensive tool for studying the flows of financial resources within the health system, monitoring and evaluating its interventions, in addition to providing a huge amount of data and information necessary to analyze all components of the system.

In turn, Al-Qaseer hailed the significant role of the GAH in participating in the studies of national health accounts, as it is the arm of the Egyptian state to provide an advanced model of health care in the governorates of comprehensive health insurance to benefit from all advanced means and mechanisms to promote the development of healthcare in Egypt.
