Egypt welcomes French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement of his country's intention to recognize the State of Palestine. It expresses its deep appreciation for this landmark and historic step, which supports international efforts aimed at establishing an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Egypt urges all countries that have not yet taken this decision to recognize the Palestinian state, in confirmation of the international community's commitment to reaching a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, as a contribution to consolidating the principles of peace and justice, and in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Egypt stresses the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to put an end to the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people and emphasizes the moral and legal responsibility of all members of the international community and the Security Council to intervene to stop the practices, crimes, and starvation policies perpetrated by the Israeli occupation army in the occupied Palestinian territories.
