Egypt has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire and integration agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, expressing hope that the step will pave the way for a comprehensive political process that includes all Syrian components and contributes to preserving Syria’s unity, security, and territorial integrity.

In an official statement, Egypt reaffirmed its longstanding and principled position supporting the unity and sovereignty of the Syrian state, the preservation of its territorial integrity, and the strengthening of national state institutions so they can fulfill their responsibilities toward protecting stability and safeguarding the rights and resources of the Syrian people.

Egypt stressed the importance of achieving sustainable security and stability for all Syrians, ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights, and reinforcing national cohesion. It also underlined the necessity of continuing efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms, as well as addressing the issue of foreign terrorist fighters, which remains a critical factor in restoring security and stability in Syria and the wider region.

The statement further emphasized that these steps are essential to creating favorable conditions for early recovery and reconstruction, and for improving humanitarian and living conditions for the Syrian people.

Egypt reaffirmed its continued support for all regional and international efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and lasting political settlement to the Syrian crisis, in line with the aspirations of the Syrian people for peace, stability, and development.
