The first edition of the WE Cup will be resumed  on Friday with Zamalek clash against Enppi.

It is the first edition of the League Cup, as it was founded by the newly-formed Professional Clubs’ Association, making the country’s third domestic trophy after the league and the Egypt Cup.

The tournament will be held during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, and involves all 18 Egyptian Premier League clubs, who were put in three groups of six teams each.

Each team will play five games and the winner of each group will qualify to the semi-finals, along with the best second-placed team.

The semi-final will then be a one-legged contest with the winners facing off in the final for glory.

Each participating team will receive a EGP100k prize, with the third place receiving EGP500k, runners-up EGP1 million and the champions EGP1.5 million.

The groups were drawn this afternoon and saw fairly balanced match-ups. Group A has three top seven teams in Al Masry, Ittihad of Alexandria and Pyramids FC.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly were pitted against historic rivals Ismaily in Group B along with the likes of Smouha and Bank Al Ahly.

Finally, the third group will see defending league champions Zamalek battle it out for the top spot with ENPPI, Pharco, and Ceramica Cleopatra.
