Egypt warned on Monday of a gradual rise in temperatures nationwide starting today, with the peak forecasted for Wednesday.
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) said temperatures would rise starting Monday, as extremely hot weather is foreseen to prevail in Cairo, Lower Egypt, South Sinai, and the South of the country.
Wednesday is set to be the peak of the heatwave, the EMA said, with temperatures in Cairo soaring up to 42 degrees Celsius.
Furthermore, Mahmoud Shaheen, Director of the Weather Forecast Department at EMA, predicted winds will be active in Cairo, Lower Egypt, Northern coasts, and North Upper Egypt.
Temperatures predicted for the following cities are: 39C in Cairo, 35C in Alexandria, 39C in Marsa Matruh, 42C in Sohag, 42C in Qena, and 42C in Aswan.
