Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Affairs, met with his Uzbek counterpart,  Bakhtiyor Saidov, on Saturday, September 21, during the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the strong friendship and historical ties between Egypt and Uzbekistan. He referred to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Uzbekistan in 2018 and the Uzbek President’s visit to Egypt in 2023, which have both significantly advanced bilateral relations. Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s commitment to maintaining the momentum generated by these high-level exchanges, aiming to continue fostering political consultations and exploring new avenues of cooperation that benefit both countries and their people.

Furthermore, the Egyptian Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two nations. He pointed to the promising investment opportunities in Egypt’s market and emphasized Egypt's attractive investment climate, which offers Uzbek companies potential entry points to African, Arab, and European markets. Abdelatty also underscored the need for establishing an institutional framework for economic cooperation, particularly through collaboration between chambers of commerce, and the creation of a new business council focused on priority economic sectors for both Egypt and Uzbekistan.

Additionally, the two ministers exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, reaffirming the need to intensify efforts to achieve global peace and security amid ongoing crises and challenges, ultimately contributing to global stability and development.
