On Monday, the Egyptian U-20 national football team reached a new milestone by qualifying for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, marking their ninth appearance in the tournament’s history.
This will be the first time for the Egyptian U-20 team to reach the global tournament in more than 12 years.
They also secured a spot in the semi-finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 2025 U-20 World Cup will be held in Chile from September 27 to October 19. Egypt previously participated in the tournament eight times, with their debut in 1981 and their most recent appearance in 2013.
Egypt earned their qualification by defeating Ghana in a dramatic quarter-final match of the U-20 AFCON, held today, Monday, at New Suez Stadium. The match ended in a 2-2 draw after extra time, and Egypt prevailed 5-4 in the penalty shootout.
