On Sunday, Egypt voiced its condolences over the collision between a freight train and a minibus in northwest Turkey leading to the death of six people and the injury of seven others on Saturday.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of a collision between a freight train and a minibus in the Tekirdag province of fraternal Turkey. We wish peace to the souls of those who died in the accident and a speedy recovery to the wounded," the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The crash at a railroad crossing in Ergene, Tekirdag province, involved a minibus carrying textile factory workers returning from a night shift and a train headed to nearby Cerkezkoy at 8 a.m. local time, the news agency said.

The people who died all were in the minibus, which was dragged in front of the train after the impact. Images showed the crumpled vehicle lying on its roof alongside the train tracks.

Meanwhile, Turkey also has issued a press release regarding the bus accident in Egypt.

“We have received the news with sadness that a bus traveling from Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo rollover in a traffic accident causing many deaths and injuries in Egypt today,” the Ministry said.

“We wish Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives in the accident, speedy recovery to the injured, and extend our condolences to Egypt,” the Ministry added.
