Hassan Abdalla announced that Egypt will host the 33rd Annual Meetings of African Export-Import Bank next June in New Alamein, underscoring the country’s expanding role in advancing African economic integration and regional development.

Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday, the governor said the high-profile gathering will take place from June 21 to 24, 2026, under the theme: “Intra-African Trade and Industrialization: A Path to Economic Sovereignty.”

The event is expected to bring together central bank governors, finance ministers, policymakers, business leaders, development partners, and international media representatives from across Africa and beyond, at a time when global economic conditions are undergoing rapid and complex transformation.

Abdalla stressed that the meetings will serve as a strategic platform for shaping Africa’s economic priorities amid mounting global uncertainty, with discussions focusing on regional integration, investment opportunities, sustainable development, and strengthening trade ties within the continent.

A major focus of the summit will center on boosting intra-African trade and accelerating industrialization efforts as African economies seek to reduce dependence on external markets and reinforce local production capabilities. Participants are also expected to examine mechanisms aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of African economies and positioning the continent more prominently within the global economic system.

The governor added that Egypt’s hosting of the annual meetings reflects the depth of its strategic partnership with African Export-Import Bank, particularly in supporting continental economic integration through expanded cooperation in trade, investment, manufacturing, and development financing.

The choice of New Alamein as the venue further highlights Egypt’s efforts to showcase its rapidly developing urban and economic hubs as centers for international investment dialogue and regional cooperation.
