Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced that the cumulative death toll from the ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon has risen to 2,896 people killed and 8,824 wounded since March 2 through May 13.
According to a statement issued Wednesday by the ministry’s Emergency Health Operations Center, ambulance teams and medical personnel continue to operate across affected areas despite major challenges caused by ongoing attacks and damage to civilian and relief facilities.
The ministry said both public and private hospitals remain engaged in receiving casualties and providing necessary medical treatment in coordination with health and humanitarian organizations in an effort to contain the worsening humanitarian situation.
Health officials noted that the rising casualty figures reflect the scale of the humanitarian crisis resulting from continued military escalation and strikes targeting residential and civilian areas in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa region, and Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The statement also highlighted the severe pressure facing Lebanon’s healthcare sector, which continues operating under limited resources and increasingly difficult security and humanitarian conditions.
