Egypt’s national handball team is set for a high-stakes showdown against archrivals Tunisia in the final of the African Handball Championship, currently being held in Rwanda.

Egypt secured their place in the final after defeating Cape Verde 32–26 in the semifinals, while Tunisia advanced with a convincing 33–24 victory over Algeria in the other last-four match.

The final will kick off on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 4:00 p.m. Cairo time (3:00 p.m. Tunisia time).

Tunisia enter the final as the most successful team in the tournament’s history, having won the continental title 10 times, just one more than Egypt, the defending champions, who have lifted the trophy on nine occasions.

Egypt have enjoyed a dominant campaign throughout the tournament. In the main round, the Pharaohs defeated Algeria 42–28 and Nigeria 48–22.

Earlier, they topped their group with a perfect record, beating Gabon 36–25, Angola 41–28, and Uganda 54–13.

The final promises to be a classic North African clash, with both sides aiming to add another chapter to their rich handball rivalry and strengthen their legacy on the continental stage.
